Edwin “Eddie” Berger, 61, of Stanton, ND, passed away on August 12, 2025. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CT on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Stanton, with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Burial will follow at Deapolis Cemetery, rural Stanton.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Eddie was born on September 5, 1963, in Bismarck, ND, to Michael and Delores Berger. Eddie grew up on a family farm, learning the value of a strong work ethic from an early age. He was proud of the hard work that came with farming and could always be found fixing, building, or lending a hand wherever it was needed. Over the years, Eddie worked a variety of labor jobs and was most recently employed at Westmoreland Beulah Mining, where his dedication and reliability were well known.
On September 1, 1984, Eddie married his best friend, Cindy Greff. Together they built their home on a farm outside of Stanton, ND, and created a life centered on hard work, love, and family. Eddie enjoyed fishing, watching western movies, and reading classic Louis L’Amour novels. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren, who loved coming to “Papa’s farm” to ride tractors and wheelers, explore the outdoors, and spend time learning from him.
Eddie was a man who didn’t sit still for long. Whether it was working on the farm, helping a neighbor, or tinkering with equipment, he was always busy. He cherished time with family and friends, and his door was always open. He will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the example he set, and the memories made with those he loved most.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Cindy; his mother, Delores Berger; his children Michael Schmitz, Alicia and Tom Uhde (Carsten, Emory, Kyzer), Trevor and Lacey Berger (Landon, Rhylie, Collin, Wyatt, Bentley, Hadleigh, Amelia), Wendlin and Amanda Berger, and KaDee and Robert Brunelle (Dakota and Gatlin); siblings Dwight (Darbie), Larry (Angie), Susan (Glenn) Knutson, Linda (Kelly) McCoy, and Joyce (Chad) Edwards; numerous nieces and nephews; and his constant sidekick, Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Berger.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
