Elaine (Stark) Schumaier

ELAINE M. SCHUMAIER, 88, of Beulah, ND, passed away on January 3, 2021 with her son by her side at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah, ND.  A public visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT, Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.  Private services will be held at a later date.

Elaine was born on May 8, 1932, in Coleharbor, ND to Albert and Rose (Kempf) Stark.  Her family moved to Garrison in 1939, where she attended school and graduated from Garrison High School.  She met the love of her life, Ray, when he was visiting his sister in Garrison.  They were united in marriage on December 14, 1952.  They made their home in Beulah where they farmed and ranched and raised three children.  They celebrated 64 years of marriage.  She had a deep love for her family and loved all the moments she could spend with them.  Elaine would always greet you with a smile and a big hug.  She had a very strong faith in the Lord that she carried throughout her life.  She made the best Knoephla, Fleischkuekla and hamburger strudel. 

            Elaine’s loving family includes her children, Paula Haase and Mavis (Bob) Fried all of Bismarck, and David Schumaier of Beulah; one brother-in-law, Jim (Joan) Schumaier of Beulah; four grandchildren, Farrah (Jeff) Wiberg, Laura (Jeff) Murray, Scott (Brenna) Fried and Daniel Fried; eight great-grandchildren.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her parents; her brother, Elvin Stark; one son-in-law, Dwight Haase.
