Eleanor (Reiner) Becker

Eleanor Becker, 98, of Beulah, passed away, Monday July 11, 2022, at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah, with Rev. Toby Heller officiating.  Burial will follow at the Beulah City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT, Friday at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Eleanor Reiner was born on April 4, 1924 at the family farmhouse north of Zap, ND. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John Lutheran Church. She attended elementary school at a small one-room schoolhouse about ½ mile NE of the farmstead. She attended Zap High School for one year. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School at St. Luke Lutheran Church for many years.

Eleanor met the love of her life, Jake Becker, at a barn dance when she was nineteen. They dated for three years, then were married on June 6, 1943. She often talked about the snow still on the ground that day. They lived for a short time in Beulah where Jake worked in an underground coal mine. They moved to the Reiner farm in 1945 after Jake broke his leg to help her parents. In 1946 her parents bought a house in Zap and Jake and Eleanor rented the farm, which they later purchased. They raised their three children there: Wesley, James, and Lois. Eleanor loved her life on the farm where she milked cows, raised chickens, hauled hay, picked rocks, and worked daily alongside her husband and children. Eleanor loved her garden, canning, quilting and sewing. In 1983, they retired and moved to Beulah. She was active in church and enjoyed entertaining and cooking for guests and visiting relatives. She made sure everyone was fed and had dessert before they left. Eleanor loved to play games with family and friends. She also enjoyed spending a lot of time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Wesley (Rita) Becker, James (Ellen) Becker, and Lois (Kurt) Brew; grandchildren; Roxanne (Tomas) Reis, Melissa Becker (Marty Presler), Jennifer (Shawn) Spencer, Elizabeth Becker, Sarah Becker (Josh Nichols), Nicole Brew, Joshua (Katie) Brew, Jenna (Jake) Hein; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Levi and Miles Hein; her sister, Norma Sailer and brother, Darold (Janelle) Reiner and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband Jake; brother, Orville; sister, Carolyn; her parents, Thoephil and Elizabeth along with brothers-in-law and sisters-in law. Eleanor was devoted to her family and God.
