Ellen I Lange, 94, Center, ND passed away August 21, 2024 unexpectedly after a very brief illness. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM CDT on Monday, August 26, 2024 with Services beginning at 1:00 PM CDT at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Center, ND.
Ellen was born on January 3, 1930 to Carl and Anna (Rabe) Schulte on the farm North of Center. She attended rural School Northwest of Center and graduated from Center High School in 1948. After graduation, she worked as a “Page” in the legislature and then worked at the state capital until her marriage to Edward F. Lange on January 18, 1953 at Hannover, ND. They were blessed with three children; Susan, Sallie and Keith. Ellen worked many jobs in Center until 1972 when she began working for the City of Center as Deputy City Auditor. In 1980, she was appointed as City Auditor for the City of Center. She held that position until her retirement in 2008. Ellen enjoyed camping and fishing, playing darts for many years and had lots of trophies to prove it! She also enjoyed playing cards, sewing, crocheting, reading, sudoku, and going to the Casinos! She sewed quilts for all her children, grandchildren and friends. Ellen made her own wedding dress, which her daughter Susan wore 25 years later.
Ellen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Oliver County Golden Age Club, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Center.
Ellen is survived by her daughter, Susan (Dennis) Hagel; son, Keith Lange; son-in-law, Jeff Pochant; grandchildren, Corey (Jana) Hagel, Joshua (Chelsey) Pochant, Miranda Tetzloff, Tori (Tyler) Elston, Karlin (Mandy) Lange, Joe Lange, Bethany (John) Schultz, Gracie, Praise and Amy Lange; great-grandchildren, Shianne Moen, Zackary Hagel, Mataya, Keirra, and Jayce Pochant, Dalton Tetzloff, Blayn Elston, Finley and Rhett Lange, Cheyenne Schultz; great-great-grandchild, Logan Moen; and one sister-in-law, Jackie Schulte.
She was preceded in death by Edward, her husband of 53 years; her daughter, Sallie (Lange) Pochant; great-grandson, Kip Moen; her parents, Carl and Anna; all five of her brothers and two sisters and their spouses; and her father and mother-in-law, Frederick and Helen Lange.
