Erica Lynn Duewel was a caring daughter, sister, aunt, dog mom, and friend. She passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 1:30 pm surrounded by family at her bedside at St. Vincent’s in Billings, MT after a brief illness.
She was born to Stephen Duewel and Cheryl Busch on October 21, 1990. She lived a short, but well-lived life. Erica was baptized and confirmed at Salem United Methodist Church and lived in Hazen until ninth grade when she moved to Beulah. She had an active youth participating and excelling in volleyball, figure skating, and track and field. She graduated from high school with both Presidential and Principal awards. After graduation, Erica was redshirted at UND for volleyball. She followed in her mom’s footsteps and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.9 GPA and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She took her nursing talents to Lacrosse, WI in the neuro clinic and ICU, and then later to Bismarck, Beulah, and Forsyth.
Erica loved her sweet Copper and greatly enjoyed walking to the Yellowstone River and hiking outdoors. She also continued her love of volleyball by playing in numerous leagues. Erica always loved a good BBQ, snowboarding, watching Bravo reality shows with her mom, reading scripture, and spending time writing.
Erica is survived by her loving parents, Stephen (Cathy) Duewel of Bismarck, ND and Cheryl (Larry) Busch of Forsyth, MT. Siblings: Derek (Devon) Duewel, Kerby Duewel, Jennifer (Jake) Maple, Jared (Careasa) Busch, Roman (Kathy) Brier, and Pat Brier. Grandparents: Ronald and Martha Allison of Forsyth, MT and Dennis Duewel of Grants Pass, OR. Nephews/Niece: Konrad, Kavik, and Kroy Duewel; Tenleigh Maple; and Andrew and James Busch. As well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Erica was preceded in death by Dustin Duewel, her twin brother, and Shirley Duewel, her grandmother.
Erica had dedicated her life to helping others and even in her death she continues to do so as her corneas were donated to help someone else. Erica’s legacy will live on through all those she had helped in their time of need. If you have an opportunity to help others, please do so and do it in honor of Erica.
