Ernest Riegel

Ernest Riegel, 85, of Beulah, ND passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah with Pastor Jeremiah Olson officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ernest was born on January 19, 1938 to August and Martha (Stern) Riegel in Halliday, ND. He was baptized on May 13, 1938 and confirmed on June 15, 1952. Ernest attended Halliday Public School until fourth grade. He continued his education at a country school north of Halliday through the eighth grade. He attended high school and graduated from Beulah High School in 1958.

On December 30, 1960, Ernest married Carolyn Dschaak at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen. The couple lived in Halliday until 1995 when they moved to Beulah. He worked for a road construction company for a time, until he began working for the City of Beulah. Ernest retired in 2007.

Ernest loved going camping and fishing, going to rodeos and having coffee with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Beulah; his son, Mark (DeAnn) Riegel of Beulah; two grandsons, Austin and Cruz, both of Beulah; two sisters, Eldora (Eugnene) Sailer of Zap and Leona (Don) Hertz of Bismarck; one brother, Tim Riegel of Bismarck; one brother-in-law, Elmer Sailer of Beulah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ernest was preceded in death by his mother and father; three sisters, Ruby, Gladys and Linda; and one sister-in-law, Dinah Riegel.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
