Esther Elaine (Frafjord) Brunmeier

Esther Elaine (Frafjord) Brunmeier, 82, of Bismarck, ND, formerly of Golden Valley, ND passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at St. Gabriel’s Community, Bismarck, ND.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Barbot Funeral Chapel, Beulah with Pastor Duane Sayler officiating. Burial will follow at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, Halliday.

Esther was born on March 12, 1939 to Hanna (Mjolhus) and Borge Frafjord. She was born on the family farmstead south of Golden Valley, ND. Esther was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to read and listen to her old-time country/polka music. Esther enjoyed gardening and taking care of her plants, and of course, she loved animals. She had several different pets throughout her life.

Esther was a kind-hearted woman who had a smile for everyone she met. She also had a stubborn streak a mile wide and readily labeled herself as a stubborn Norwegian. Esther single-handedly raised five children on pure grit and determination.

Esther is survived by six children, Donna Weidner, Brenda (Lee) Berry, Delton (Diane) Brunmeier, Wayne Brunmeier, Tracy (Kenny) Williams, and Julie (Jimmy) Brunmeier-Lindsey; one sister, Alice Kastrow; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hanna and Borge; two sisters, Jorine Burkhardt and Helen Frafjord; three brothers, Thorman “Terry” Frafjord, Ervin Frafjord and baby brother Donald Frafjord; her special friend, Duane Kruckenberg; and her son-in-law, Fred Weidner.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Tracy’s Sanctuary, 908 North 8th Street, Bismarck, ND 58501.
