Esther C (Entzel) Mann

The Heavenly gates opened on September 17, 2022 to welcome our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Esther Christina Mann, 91, who passed away at Marian Manor in Glen Ullin, ND surrounded by her family. Please join us in the celebration of her life. Services will be held at 1:00 PM CDT on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah with Pastor Toby Heller officiating. A German luncheon will immediately follow the service. Burial will be held at Halliday City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT on Sunday, September 25 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Esther was born on October 14, 1930 to Carl and Christina (Hausauer) Entzel. She grew up and attended school through the eighth grade. Being the oldest of six girls, she helped on the family farm until she met and married Emil Mann on October 11, 1949. The couple resided on the family farm where they raised their children until moving to Halliday in 1962. Esther was a homemaker for the first years of marriage until she started her lifelong passion of cooking. She worked in various restaurants and the Halliday School, as well as catering many weddings and events prior to purchasing her own restaurant in Killdeer, The Crossroads Restaurant. Esther and Emil ran the restaurant for 15 years before she retired at the age of 78.

Esther’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. Her biggest request was “just one more hug”. There was always a delicious meal prepared by Esther any time of the day. She loved listening to old time country music and gospel. She lived well, laughed often and loved much. With hope, enthusiasm and her loving touch, she was truly a treasure and will be missed beyond measure. Esther thoroughly loved life.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Dale) Richau of Baxter, MN, Paulette (Elmer) Nordsven of Watford City, ND, and Twila Forgy of Garrison, ND; one son, Arlan Mann of Bismarck, ND; her sisters, Marie Kemmet, Agnes (Ron) Stastney, Genevieve Kirmas, Hazel (Jack) Jensen and Janice Goetz; one sister-in-law, Olga Mann; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil; her daughter, Janel; one grandson, Christopher; one infant great-grandson; and three brothers-in-law.
