Geraldine "Gerri" (Delzer) Murschel

GERALDINE (Gerri) MURSCHEL, 80, of Hazen, passed away on April 9, 2024, at Knife River Care Center, Beulah.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen with Pastor Mark Martin officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 11th, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.  A private burial will take place at a later date.

Gerri was born on August 7, 1943, in Harvey, ND to Gustav and Emma (Grochow) Delzer.  She attended White School northeast of Anamoose through the 8th grade and graduated from Anamoose High School in 1961. Gerri went on to complete the Secretarial program at Bismarck Junior College.

In 1965, Gerri married the love of her life, Don, at St. Martin Lutheran Church, in Anamoose, ND. Together they raised three children. Throughout their marriage, they lived in Jamestown and Mandan, before moving to Hazen in 1981.

Gerri worked various jobs prior to landing her dream job in 1985.  Over the next 23 years she worked in several positions at the Hazen School until her retirement in 2008.

Gerri had a love for exercise, camping, fishing, high school sporting events, but above all she loved DANCING. She and Don traveled the state attending polka fests and made many memories and friends along the way.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Don; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terrance and Michelle Murschel; Jody and Nikki Murschel, all of Hazen; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Greg Helgeson of Bismarck; seven grandchildren, Kelsey Murschel, Shayla (Taylor) Pennington, Preston Murschel, Tyler (Mikayla) Murschel, Jazzy Helgeson, BreAnna (Cody) Montalbano and Derrik Helgeson; three great-grandchildren, Beckham Murschel, Sophia and CJ Montalbano; three brothers, Eugene (Barb) Delzer of Minot; Jerome Delzer of Beulah; Gerald (Connie) Delzer of Minot; one sister, Betty Eggers of Bismarck and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerri was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Eleanor Dusek, Bernice Miller, and Luella Grossman; one brother, Marvin Delzer; one sister-in-law, Elaine Gustin, five brothers-in-law, Robert Dusek, Clifford Miller, Raymond Grossman, Ervin Eggers, and Henry T. Gustin.
