Henrietta M (Sailer) Oestreich

Henrietta Marie Oestreich, 89, of New Salem, ND passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem. Services will be held at 1:00 PM CT on Friday, February 19, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Center with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Henrietta was born on July 27, 1931 in Mercer County, ND to Theodore and Johanna (Spier) Sailer. On June 25, 1950 she married her loving husband of 70 years, Herman Oestreich at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mannhaven, ND by Rev. Bultman. Herman passed away on August 10, 2020.

Henrietta loved to tend to her animals on the farm, especially her baby calves. She also raised chickens and grew a large garden every year. She enjoyed gardening and canning the goods that came from the garden. Henrietta loved to entertain company, as well as cook for them. No one, not family or even a salesman, ever left Henrietta’s home hungry. Henrietta also took the time to teach her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to cook and bake many different recipes. When Henrietta wasn’t tending to life on the farm or cooking for her family, she enjoyed crocheting, always having a project in the works.

She is survived by her children, Jackie (Rudy) Tesky, Keith Oestreich and Kevin (Kim) Oestreich; five grandchildren, Travice (Stephanie) Tesky, Teresa Tesky, Tanya (Chad) Couture, Derek (Morgan) Oestreich and Stacy Oestreich; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; one brother, Nathaniel (Luella) Sailer; one brother-in-law, Vincent (Mary) Oestreich; and several nieces and nephews.

Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; her parents and parents-in-law; and one brother, Ray Sailer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, ND.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
