Herman Oestreich, Jr.

Herman John Ferdinand Oestreich, Jr., 90, of New Salem, ND passed away peacefully on August 10, 2020 at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem. Burial will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Friday, August 14, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Center, ND with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT on Thursday, August 13 at Barbot Funeral Home, Hazen, ND.

Herman was born on October 8, 1929 to Herman, Sr. and Rosie (Eisenbraun) Oestreich. On June 25, 1950 he married his loving wife of 70 years, Henrietta Sailer, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mannhaven, ND by Rev. Bultman. Over his lifetime he worked various jobs such as roofing, plumbing, cement work and carpentry. His lifelong passion of farming was his true love. He never really retired from farming until falling ill and entering the nursing home. Herman received excellent care during his tenure at Elm Crest Manor.

Herman is survived by his wife, Henrietta; his children, Jackie (Rudy) Tesky, Keith Oestreich and Kevin (Kim) Oestreich; five grandchildren, Travice (Steph) Tesky, Teresa Tesky, Tanya (Chad) Couture, Derek Oestreich and Stacy Oestreich; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Vincent (Mary) Oestreich.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his father- and mother-in-law; one brother; and two sisters-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, ND.
