Hulda M. Erdman, 106, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at the Baptist Home in Bismarck. She will be forever missed in the hearts of those who loved her.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM CT at the Beulah Congregational Church with Pastor John Fanella officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow at Hope Congregational Cemetery, Golden Valley, ND.
Hulda was born north of Beulah near Lake Sakakawea on July 6, 1918, the first-born daughter of John and Margaret (Koehler) Pfennig. She was raised and educated north of Beulah. She was a major help to her mother by helping care for her younger siblings. She married Emil Erdman on April 9, 1939 at Zap, ND. They farmed together for 30 years at the Erdman family farm located a mile and a half NE of Golden Valley, ND, where they raised six children. They retired and moved into GV in 1970. Hulda lived in Beulah before moving to Bismarck in April 2004 to be closer to her youngest son. She lived independently until she was 100 years old.
She was a wonderful crocheter, seamstress, gardener, canner, baker and cook. She loved sharing her talents and goodies with others. She especially loved a good game of dominoes and staying at Grandma’s house always involved treats and games.
Hulda enjoyed listening to Christian music and loved playing the piano. She became an internet star after KFYR TV did a second story on her second golden birthday when she turned 106. Not many people have two golden birthdays, so her story appeared on stations across the US. She took her fame in stride and shared her infectious smile and giggle with viewers far and wide.
Hulda is survived by: 4 children, Earl (Jolene) Erdman of Bismarck, Laura (Gary) Stuhlmiller of Chandler, AZ, Lucy Chase of Annapolis, MD and Clifford Erdman of Nehalem, OR, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, 1 sister, Lorraine Guell of Hillsboro, OR and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hulda is preceded in death by her husband Emil, two sons, James and Glenn, one grandson, Shane, her parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Beulah Congregation Church Memorial Fund in memory of Hulda.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
