James “Jim” Michael Farrington, 61, of Hazen, ND, passed away on July 2, 2025, in Hazen. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CT on Friday, July 18, 2025 at St. Martin Catholic Church, Hazen with Fr. Thomas Grafsgaard officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery, Hazen.
Born on February 14, 1964, in Harvey, ND, Jim lived a full life of adventure, strength, and generosity. Jim spent much of his career as an instrumentation technician, traveling across the country and even overseas to support start-up operations at power plants. His work ethic and skills were unmatched, and his ability to troubleshoot and repair anything- from engines to electronics- made him the go-to guy for just about everyone.
He lived in California and Pattaya Beach, Thailand, for much of his adult life, always drawn to places where the sun shone brightly and adventure was never far away.
From a young age, Jim had a curious and adventurous spirit. He cherished childhood fishing trips and time spent with his Grandpa Hugh. As he grew older, his hobbies expanded to include dirt bike riding, sandblasting, Harley Davidson motorcycles (building and riding), and weightlifting. He was an early adopter of the latest technology and never met a gadget he didn’t want to master.
Known for his massive biceps and kind heart, Jim was always quick to lend a hand – even pulling over to help strangers stranded on the side of the road. He was an international arm wrestling champion and lover of “up-dog,” always bringing humor into everyday moments.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Bernice Farrington, and his brother Kirk Farrington (the man who taught him how to be cool). He is survived by his daughters, Alexis McIntyre (John) and Carly Gould (Josh); his grandson, Hudson McIntyre; his brother David Farrington (Elizabeth); his sisters Ann Unterseher (Brian) and Lisa Farrington; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Jim’s memory will live on in the lives he touched– through the things he built, the kindness he showed, and the family who carries his spirit forward.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
