Jeanette (Steffen) Bohrer

Jeanette Bohrer, 73, of Halliday, ND passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2022 in Bismarck, ND. Services will be held at 10:00 AM MDT/11:00 AM CDT on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Halliday with Pastor Dorothy Stein officiating. Burial will follow at Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery, Halliday. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT on Wednesday, September 28 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah. Jeanette was born on August 10, 1949 to Lawrence and Elsie (Mohl) Steffen. She grew up in Halliday and graduated from Halliday High School in 1967. Jeanette attended BSC in Bismarck. After college, Jeanette held various bookkeeping positions in Dickinson and Bismarck. She married James Bohrer on July 11, 1973. They made their home in Halliday for many years. Together they operated the Halliday movie theater for eight years. Jeanette worked as an assistant cook and custodian for Halliday High School. She also worked at Woodworth Honey. In 2004, Jeanette and Jim decided to try a new venture managing an apartment complex in Bismarck. She retired in 2018 and moved back to Halliday. Jeanette was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizen Club. She loved to shop, enjoyed gathering with family and friends for brunches, birthdays, bunco and pinochle parties. She is survived by her children, Bart of Minot and Becky of Mandan; two sisters, Nancy (Mike) Gawryliv of Mandan and Deb (Scott) Robertson of Black Hawk, SD; three brothers, Larry (Lori) Steffen of Beulah, Rick Steffen of Fargo and Dave Steffen of Dickinson; one brother in-law, Dennis (Denise) Bohrer; one sister-in-law, Sarah (John) Dagon; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Elsie, and her husband, Jim. Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
