Jeanette J. (Flemmer) Miller, 81 of Bismarck, formerly of Beulah, died peacefully at Missouri Slope Care Center Bismarck on, June 16, 2022. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Beulah Congregational Church, with Pastor Istvan Vasarhelyi officiating . Burial will follow in the Beulah City Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Jeanette was born June 20, 1940 in Hazen to Martin and Juliana (Hiller) Pischel. She attended grade school in Hazen and graduated from high school in 1958. She did part time clerical work for Dr. R.P. Froeschle at the Hazen Clinic and took a full-time position as cashier/stenographer with West River Telephone Corp. She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.
On May 20, 1959 Jeanette married Alvin Flemmer in Hazen. They made their home on a farm south of Beulah, raising cattle and grain. One son, Brendan, was born to this union. She was actively involved in their farming operation and was also an active member of the Beulah Congregational Church. She sang in the choir and a mixed trio, accompanied on the piano for worship services, taught 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School classes and was a member of the Friendly Circle in which she held several offices over the years. She took classes in silk and wildflower arranging and calligraphy. Her home displayed many of her creations.
Jeanette lost her husband, Alvin, of 31 years in 1990. She and her son, Brendan, remained on the farm until she married Frank J. Mattern on January 6, 1995 and moved to Bismarck. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and freezing her produce. She was always generous in giving away any extra that her garden produced. One of her favorite activities was entertaining friends and relatives with a home cooked meal. She enjoyed trying new recipes and had a huge collection of them as well as making her own.
Frank & Jeanette did a lot of traveling in the US as well as Europe, China, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and Panama. She learned to play Bridge and was part of a lady’s foursome. She was always active in Christian Women's Club, holding several offices while at Beulah. Her love for God's word was manifested in her attending and guiding Stonecroft Bible Studies.
Jeanette lost her husband, Frank, of 16 years in 2011. She was happy to find love again when she married Stanley Miller on March 25, 2017.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, Stanley Miller, her son, Brendan Flemmer and his wife Mary Kay, two grandchildren, Ava Jean Flemmer and Zoe Lee Flemmer, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one sister (Leona Weil), and two brothers (Erhardt and Ervin Pischel).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to BisMan Women’s Connection (formerly “Christian Women’s”), 4123, Bayport PL SE, Mandan, ND 58554.
