Jill Galloway Obituary

Jill Galloway, 74, of Beulah, North Dakota passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Services will be held at 1:00 PM CST on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen with Pastor Mark Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM CST on Sunday, February 13 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Jill Galloway was born to Joseph and Shirley (Herman) Muhlhauser April 30, 1947 in Beulah, North Dakota.  She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church. She graduated from Beulah High school in 1965 and from Dickinson State College in 1969. Jill and Charles (Chuck) Galloway were always close but dated for the first time at their senior prom.  They married December 28, 1969 at Zion Lutheran Church.

They lived in Linton, North Dakota and Jill taught school in Hazelton until 1970 when they moved back to Beulah. In 1995, they moved to Dubuque, Iowa when Chuck decided to attend Seminary. While in Dubuque, Jill supported the family working as a telemarketer, which she loved, and both she and Chuck worked closely with many international students.

In 2000, they were called to the Prairie Rose Parish in Ryder, Makoti, and Roseglen, North Dakota where they enjoyed 15 years of ministry. They spent one year at the Prairie Parish of Westhope, Newburg, and Maxbass, North Dakota, then retired to Beulah, North Dakota in 2017, where they lived at the time of Jill’s death.

Jill enjoyed music and crafts, especially quilting and embroidering. She loved to go rummaging and to buy things on sale although she had no idea what she might do with it. She was very generous with her stuff, so if you needed something or she thought you needed something, she either had it or she would find it. She sang in church choirs and, sang with the singing group, The Grannies and Mommas.  She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, belonged to the Beulah Jaycettes and the Cheerful Homemakers.  She was a church-school teacher, a quilter, and a member of WELCA at all of the churches she was a member.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years; three sons, Joel (Angela), Joshua, and Matthew; grandchildren, Noah (Abby) and Reid; two sisters, Tara Muhlhauser, and Jay (Tom) Brennan; nieces and nephew, Kathryn Galloway, Emily Benner, Daniel Galloway, Katie Brennan Adsit, and Molly Brennan Noble, and brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Anita Galloway as well as several cousins.

Jill was preceded in death by two stillborn children; her parents, Joseph and Shirley Muhlhauser; and her father- and mother-in-law, Fred and Lillian Galloway.
