Joanne Mindt Obituary

Joanne K. Mindt, 65, of Zap, ND died peacefully on Sunday January 10, 2021, at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah after a long battle with MS and a short-term battle with Dementia related illnesses. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Zap.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM CT on Friday, January 15 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Joanne was born in Hazen the third child to Ray and Ellen Renner on April 11, 1955. She grew up on the family farm North of Zap. Joanne graduated from Zap High School and attended BJC. She worked for Barco Bearing, Bismarck and worked the tipple at Knife River Coal Mine, Beulah. She later got hired at Coyote Station where she was a parts expediter and then took on the warehouse position until she was unable to work.  She married Doug Feil and had two sons David and Justin. On September 30th, 1988 she married Bill Mindt and gained a daughter, Tara.

Joanne enjoyed camping at Beaver Bay and going out on Lake Sakakawea on the pontoon. In her spare time, she enjoyed word seek puzzles and watching the game show network. She helped out whenever she could with the Sunshine Club fundraisers in Zap. Joanne loved her kids and was very proud of them. She loved being a grandma and loved her grandkids very much and spoiled them with the big boxes of candy that were always in her baker’s cupboard.

Joanne is survived by her oldest son David (Gina) Feil and their kids Laura (Jacob) Aiello, Austin, Luke, Grace Feil, Beulah; Her daughter Tara Mindt and her son, Jamison Mindt, Shields, ND; her youngest son Justin (Rachael) Feil and their kids Aubrey and Carson Feil, Beulah; her mother Ellen Renner, Beulah; two sisters Carol Schafer of Edgewood, WA and Sharon (Tom) Klein of Bismarck; one brother Gary (Lynell) Renner of Zap. One brother-in-law Jack (Connie) Mindt, Beulah; two sisters-in-law, Jackie (Jay) Brovold of Dickinson and Penny (Doug Wright) Knaup of Parker, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2015, her father Ray Renner, parents-in-law Edmund Mindt and Charlie and Hilda Knaup, brothers-in-law Allan Engen and Ron Schafer, nephews Jeff Schafer and Ryan Tesky.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Zap Park Board – Beaver Bay and the Willow Butte Sunshine Club.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
