John Harold Buchmann, 91, Beulah, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the Knife River Care Center. Services will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM CST at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, ND with Pastor Kathleen Nygaard officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah City Cemetery, Beulah, ND.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah ND.
John was born August 6, 1934 in Hazen, ND, the seventh of ten children, to John J. and Carolina (Scheidt) Buchmann. He was baptized into Christ on November 18, 1934 and confirmed on June 24, 1951, both at Zion Lutheran Church. He was raised on a farm 12 miles south of Beulah in the Otter Creek Area. He attend country school graduating from eighth grade on December 10, 1951. After that, he continued to help on the family farm until purchasing it in 1963.
On October 4, 1975, he married Linda Brunmeier at Zion Lutheran Church. They resided on the Buchmann family farm south of Beulah. In 1976, they welcomed a son, Jason and in 1979, they welcomed a daughter, Stephanie. Besides raising cattle, John worked as a laborer for the Burlington Northern railroad for 30 years, retiring in June 1997. In 1999, John and Linda began cleaning The Union Bank and First-Security Bank-West.
John was a very soft spoken man. He had a quick wit about him and could come up with some of the best one liners. He will always be remembered for his mischievous little grin. John was always the first one to pitch in and help when help was needed and never expected anything in return. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and he will be greatly missed.
John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Laura Buchmann, Bismarck, ND; his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and David Hottman, Beulah, ND; eight grandchildren, Josiah, John, Elijah, Elisha, Esther, Ethan, Braelyn, and Cavin; one sister, Caroline Koehler, Bismarck, ND; one brother, Don (Cheryl) Buchmann, Watertown, SD; and one sister-in-law, Lillian Boeshans, Beulah; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents, John J. and Carolina (Scheidt) Buchmann; one granddaughter, Sarah Ann Haugen; five sisters, Wilma Thomas, Pearl Weil, Gladys Moos, Rose Ann Sasse, and Ramona Kasanke; and two brothers, Otto, and Eugene Buchmann.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
