Kenneth Riedemann Obituary

Kenneth Raymond Riedemann, 85, of rural Hazen, ND went to heaven to be with his Lord & Saviour on March 26, 2020.  He passed away, due to declining health issues, at Sakakawea Medical Center in Hazen surrounded by his family.  A service at church was not held because of the coronavirus pandemic restrictions.  Rev Kirk Peters of St Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen officiated a family graveside service at Rhein Cemetery, rural Hazen on March 30, 2020 at 11:00 AM.

 

Kenneth was born on September 29, 1934 in rural Oliver County ND to Albert L Riedemann & Esther M (Uhl) Riedemann.  He grew up with his younger sister Lorraine.  He was baptized on November 18, 1934 at St John’s Lutheran Church at Rhein & confirmed on June 26, 1949 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Beulah.  He obtained his elementary education at Burt Rural School & graduated from Beulah High School in 1954, where he played basketball & football for the Miners.  He later attended college in Dickinson, earned a teaching certificate & taught at Burt Rural School for one year.  Kenneth enlisted in the U.S. Army & served his country for two years while stationed in South Korea.  On July 14, 1961 he married Shirley L Zeiszler, of Golden Valley on her 18th birthday at Concordia Lutheran Church.  Kenneth & Shirley were blessed with five children: Faye, David, Kyle, Julie & Rachel.  The family resided in Fargo while he was employed at Northern States Power, until the spring of 1967.  A new job opportunity brought the family back to Hazen, where they lived in town for a year, before moving to the family farmstead south of Hazen.  He was employed as an electrician at Great River Energy (formerly UPA) for 29 years, retiring from the coal plant in 1996.  At the same time he also farmed & ranched with his family, raising cattle, small grains & potatoes.  Kenneth enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, bowling, playing cards, reading & playing/watching baseball/softball.  He had faithfully served as an elder at St Matthew Lutheran Church, where he was a member for over 50 years.

 

He is survived by: his loving wife Shirley of 58 years, rural Hazen, children; Faye & Jeffrey Lennie rural New Salem, Kyle Riedemann rural Hazen, Julie & Kelly Hausauer Beulah & Rachel Riedemann rural Beulah, His nine grandchildren; Travis & Karli (Brynjulson) Lennie, Desiree’ & Evan Willman, Mikayla Lennie, Jaret Lennie, Cody Schank, Joshua & Jacey (Pulver) Schank, Hayden Norton, Josey Erickson & Tyrel Erickson.

 

He is also survived by his sister & brother-in-law, Lorraine & Emanuel Ressler of Mandan, sister-in-law, Norma Traxel, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Lucille & David Erbstoesser, all of Bismarck & several nieces & nephews & their families.

 

He was preceded in death by: his parents Albert & Esther (Uhl) Riedemann, his wife’s parents Walter & Pauline (Schulz) Zeiszler, infant son David Riedemann, son-in-law Jeffrey Erickson, brother-in-law LeRoy Traxel & several nieces and nephews.

 

The family suggests sending any memorial contributions to St Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen ND.
