LaMar Goetz, 74, of Hazen, ND passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025 in his home. There will be a CELEBRATION of life to remember LaMar, as his wishes were not to have a funeral service. The celebration will be at Painted Woods Golf Course, Washburn on Monday, June 30, 2025 from 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM. This is open to the public to come and share your best stories and memories of LaMar at one of his favorite place. Feel free to stay as long as you'd like, book a tee time and enjoy what LaMar loved to do most.
LaMar was born November 15, 1950 to Elsie and Gordon Goetz. He was both born and raised in Hazen, ND where he played baseball and attended all his years of schooling. After graduating from Hazen High School, LaMar moved to Denver for work. After a few years, LaMar returned home to Hazen where he started his career at West River Telephone Company before retiring after almost 41 years.
LaMar married Jody (Geiger) May 27, 1978. He then gained a daughter, Amy (Geiger). Together LaMar and Jody had a son, Martin Goetz.
LaMar was known for the love of conversation with others. He also enjoyed golfing with his best friend, Phil Hentsch. He would often offer advice to those who would be willing to listen as he knew the game well. If he wasn't on the golf course, LaMar was found playing pool or competitive game of cards.
LaMar was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He was a hard worker, who loved music. He will truly be missed.
LaMar is survived by his son, Martin Goet:, daughter, Amy (Geiger) and Chris Edwards, grandchildren, Bostyn and Cashtyn Edwards, Madesyn (Porterfield) and Alex Holm; great-grand daughter Breyer Holm; brother, Garret Goetz; and many nieces and nephews.
