LaRoy Lennie

LaRoy Lennie, 87, of Hazen, ND passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Private family services will be held.

LaRoy was born on April 15, 1934 to John and Elsie (Baumgarten) Lennie in New Salem, ND. He grew up and attended school in New Salem, graduating from New Salem High School in 1954. LaRoy went on to college, following graduation, at Valley City Teacher’s College in Valley City, ND. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Music. He taught at various schools before moving to Hazen in 1968, where he taught for most of his career. LaRoy went on to work at Leland Olds Station for several years before he owned and operated a ranch, which was his life’s passion.

LaRoy married Mary Holle in New Salem in 1959 and the couple were blessed with three children.

LaRoy enjoyed fishing and hunting. He greatly enjoyed the many elk hunting trips he went on.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary of Hazen; his children, Loren Lennie of Lino Lakes, MN, Lisa Lennie of West Fargo, ND and Lynnae Lennie of Fargo, ND; two sisters, Janet (Jerry) Hillstrom of Burnsville, MN and LaVonne (Gary) O’Dell of Las Vegas, NV; one sister-in-law, Darlene Lennie of New Salem; and one brother-in-law, Wayne (Kathy) Holle of New Salem.

LaRoy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Allyn Lennie.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
