LeRoy Boeckel

LeRoy Boeckel, 74, Hazen, died unexpectantly in a farming accident on November 1, 2021.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with Pastor Gary Kalmback officiating.  Burial will follow in the Boeckel Cemetery in Beulah.

Visitation will be Friday, November 5, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. CT and prayer and memory time from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. CT at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah. 

LeRoy was born in Beulah, ND on November 5, 1946, the sixth of eight children of David and Sophie Boeckel.  LeRoy was raised north of Beulah and educated eight years at rural school.  On December 28, 1968, he married Allegra Permann.  Together, they farmed and ranched on the family farm where they raised their two children, Lori and Travis.  In 1988, they moved from Beulah to their current location east of Hazen where they continued to farm and ranch.

LeRoy had many talents.  He was a licensed auctioneer.  He had a deep love for Black Angus cattle and black licorice.  He spent many hours in his recliner watching rodeos on t.v., including reruns from years past.  He loved to work outside and would talk to anyone and everyone about farming and ranching.  He loved spending time with his four grandkids and made every visit extra special and unforgettable.  He did multiple missionary trips to Barbados, Honduras and Africa.  He was active on the Lighthouse Assembly of God church board and the County Zoning and Planning board.

Even though it was not LeRoy’s passion, he did stop working to do some deer hunting and fishing in Canada with his son and friends, which he used the time to catch up on sleep; BUT he somehow ALWAYS ended up catching the BIG ONE!

LeRoy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Allegra; daughter, Lori and Gary Kreidt, Woodbury, MN; son, Travis and Alicia Boeckel, Bismarck, ND; granddaughters, Gabriella (Michael) Palczewski, Jasmine (friend, Wyatt) and Allison; grandson Logan; brothers Melvin (Luella), Clayton (Diane) and Leon (JoAnn); sisters Darlene (Ed), Marles (Jim) and Peggy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Sophie; sister, Delores Hess; and brothers-in-law, Henry Hess and Robert Hess.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
