LeRoy Tschaekofske Obituary

LeRoy Tschaekofske, 68 of Hazen, ND passed away Jan 6, 2022 from complications of pneumonia. Services will be held at 2:00 PM CST, Wednesday Jan 12, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church Rural Hazen with Pastor Nathan Schieber officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

LeRoy was born June 3, 1953 in Hazen to Edwin and Frieda (Schwartzman) Tschaekofske. He was baptized and confirmed at St Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen. LeRoy graduated from Hazen High School in 1971. Following graduation he attended BJC for welding. After receiving his certificate he began working permit for the Ironworkers and got his book in 1972 becoming a proud member of Ironworkers Union #793 which later merged with #512.

On August 19, 1972 LeRoy married the love of his life Jackie Kuhn at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Stanton, ND. They shared 49 years of love together. Out of that love came one amazing daughter, Nikki.

LeRoy had a love for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. As he grew older he really valued time spent hunting with his daughter and fishing with his best friend Mark. LeRoy was a natural athlete, there wasn’t a sport he couldn’t do. His favorite was golf. LeRoy was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. He was very excited to have taught his Granddaughter to do “Touchdown Green Bay” at 11 months old.

LeRoy’s favorite moments were his time spent making memories with his little sweetheart, Granddaughter Addison.

LeRoy will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Jackie; his daughter, Nikki (Doug) Leidholm of Hazen; granddaughter, Addison; his mother, Frieda Tschaekofske of Beulah; his brother, Ron (Shirley) Tschaekofske of Alexandria, MN, his sister, Kathy Carroll of Hazen; sister-in-law, Robin Vilhauer (Kevin Yeager) of Beulah; brother-in-law and best friend, Mark Schmidt, of Rockton IL; his nieces and nephews; and his fur baby, Schnitzy.

LeRoy was proceeded in death by an infant daughter, Sonya; his father, Edwin; father and mother-in-law, Emil and Frieda Kuhn; brothers-in-law, Jon Carroll and Danny Kuhn; sister-in-law, Kay Schmidt and nephew, Joe Schmidt.

Arrangements conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Hazen and Beulah.
