Lilavon (Lil) Herman Obituary

Lilavon Herman, 86, Beulah, died peacefully on March 27, 2022, at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Thursday, March 31, 2022, at PrairieView Church of God, Beulah, with Rev. Justin Countryman officiating. Burial will follow in Beulah City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 PM CDT on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Lilavon was born on the home place north of Beulah, ND on August 6, 1935, the eldest of seven children of Reinhold and Erna (Boeckel) Reich. She attended the Beulah Church of God. Lilavon was raised and educated north of Beulah. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and lived her life to attest to it. On Oct. 17, 1955, she married her loving husband of 66 years, Albin Herman, at the Beulah Church of God. After moving around for several years, they settled in Beulah in 1966, where they attended the Beulah Church of God. Lilavon served as the secretary-treasurer of the ladies ministries and helped with VBS. She was a wonderful wife and mother. After her family was raised, her and Albin spent time camping and fishing, making friends along the way.

Her children have warm memories of her good cooking and sweet moments of laughter and love. She loved doing puzzles, reading, doing crossword puzzles and listening to gospel music. She and Albin spent many Sunday afternoons playing Skippo.

Lilavon is survived by her husband, Albin; one son and daughter-in-law, Lyle and Peggy Herman (Mandan); two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Robert Fifer, and Lora and Michael Sayler, (both of Beulah); two sisters, Hope Smith (Virginia) and Virginia Scheurer (Nebraska); six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Chauncey Michael Sayler; three brothers, Hilmer, Russell, and Theophil Reich and one sister, Marvalou Kavalenko.

The family would like to express deep appreciation to the Mercer County Ambulance and the Sakakawea Hazen ER for their wonderful compassionate care for their mother preceding her death. They were truly caring and we all appreciated it.
