Lillian L (Peterson) Zuern

Lillian L. Zuern, 89, of Beulah, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Monday, May 17, 2021, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah, with Deacon Dan Wallach officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Beulah.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah,

Lillian was born on July 20, 1931, at home in Lostwood, ND.  She was the oldest of seven children born to Fred (Dutch) and Elsie (Johnston) Peterson.  She was raised on the farmstead near Columbus, ND.  Lillian married Harvey Powell in 1951 and they had three children through this union.  In 1970, she married Archie Zuern and on Sept. 7, 2020 they celebrated 50 years of marriage together.

Lillian and Archie traveled extensively thru the US as Archie worked on various construction projects across the country.  In 1983, they made their home in Beulah, ND.  Lillian enjoyed coffee and conversation with close friends.  She enjoyed playing games and had a very competitive spirit about her. 

She is survived by her husband, Archie; son, Pat (Doris) Powell, daughter, Pamela (Richard) Brown, son, Jim (Jennifer) Zuern; one daughter-in-law, Carla Powell; one brother-in-law, Duane Swanson; three sisters, Jean (Jim) Cowee, Julie (Larry) Olheiser, Lois Burau; numerous grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Mike Powell; her grandson, Josh Powell; siblings, Fred Peterson, Norman Peterson and Elsie Mae Swanson.
