Lucy P (Renner) Pfenning

LUCILLE “LUCY” P. PFENNING, 84, of Beulah, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah with Rev. Toby Heller officiating.  Burial will follow at the Beulah City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT, Monday, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Lucy was born on August 11, 1933, to Lukas and Pauline (Becker) Renner near Beulah, ND.  She was raised and educated near Kronthal.  Lucy was baptized on October 22, 1933, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kronthal and confirmed there as well.  She married Art Pfenning on August 10, 1955, in Glendive, MT.  They moved to Beulah in 1976.  Lucy waitressed in various restaurants in the Hazen and Beulah areas.  Her last job was for Pizza Galore in Beulah.  She resided in Beulah until her passing. 

Lucy was very involved in her church, especially her Bible study at Concordia Lutheran Church.  She had a love for animals and was known for feeding all the stray cats in her neighborhood.  She loved to sew, cross-stitch and make German food.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Rhonda Pfenning of Zap; one granddaughter, Tausha Pfenning; one step-granddaughter, Sara Kovarik and fiancé Travis Smotherman, and their children, Jade and Abel, all of Bismarck; two brothers, Alden and Tina Renner of Beach, ND, Ronnie Renner of Hazen, ND; one sister, Jeanie Hellickson of Dickinson; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; one special friend, Deb Morgenstern.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; two brothers, Les and Ivan Renner; one brother-in-law, Ernie Hellickson.
