Marian F. Keller, 90, of Hazen, died peacefully surrounded by her family on February 17, 2024. Services and burial will be held at 12:00 PM, CST, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Marian was born on June 10, 1933, in Velva, ND to Josephine (Miller) and Gerald Wasson. She was raised and educated at Velva. She married the love of her life, Paul S. Keller, on February 23, 1950, in Puyallup, WA.
Marian was a stay at home mom for many years before joining the Mercer County Ambulance for 7 ½ years as an EMT, an Advanced Red Cross Tech & a CPR instructor. She also taught many classes & assisted with the state EMT certification classes. She was also the first female on the Hazen Fire Department and served for 6 ½ years. She then went on to work for the Mercer County Sheriff's Department as a Control Room Operator & Correctional Officer. She finished out her work career with the City of Hazen as a city bus driver, retiring in 2007.
In retirement, she enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, spending time at the lake, coffee with her friends at Cenex, and most importantly, spending time with her grandkids.
Marian is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Lesley & Wes Braun; son & daughter-in-law, Shane T. & Yvonne Keller; son-in-law, Walt DeLeeuw; grandchildren, Raeha (John Bashyam) Keller, Tori (Logan Kirkpatrick) Keller, Jessica (Easton Ficek) Braun, Keston Braun, Alissa DeLeeuw, Scott Keller, and Sadona Loggins; her great-grandchildren, Kris Brunmeier and Carson DeLeeuw. She is also survived by her twin brother and sister-in-law, Mryon (Carol) Wasson, a special sister, Josephine Henderson and sister, Bonnie Jean Darvel.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul; daughter, Yvonne DeLeeuw; two sons, Paul Jr. (Pete) and Frank (Jerry); her grandson, Kyle Brunmeier, her brother and sister-in-law, Dale (Tillie) Wasson, sisters, Ardis Tangen and Gloria Bird, brothers, Orlin and Leslie as well as an infant brother and sister.
