Martha (Schuh) Weigum

Martha Ella Weigum, 86, of Golden Valley, North Dakota died peacefully at home on February 27, 2022. Services will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah. Burial will follow at St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Golden Valley, ND.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Martha was born on February 28, 1935 in Beulah ND. She was the second oldest of nine children born to Gust and Elsie (Fandrich) Schuh. Martha was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was raised and educated north of Golden Valley.

On July 5, 1953, Martha married Alvin Weigum, her loving husband of 57 years. They were married on the farm that they made their home. Martha and Alvin were blessed with four children, Donna, Wendell, Dallas and Jerry.

Martha loved the farm life. She worked side by side her husband, farming and milking cows. She loved to garden and in her spare time, Martha enjoyed crocheting, sewing and baking.

Martha is survived by her children, Donna Alton of Hazen, ND, Wendell (Kathryn) Weigum of Dunseith, ND and Jerry (Joyce) Weigum of Lancaster, SC; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby (Arlen) Gorden of Baldwin, ND and Helen (Jerry) Lundstad of Mandan, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin; one son, Dallas; one son-in-law, George Alton; two brothers, Paul and Ernest; and four sisters, Alice, Vera, Mae and Violet.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
