The gates of Heaven opened, and she was gone. What a wonderful, nurturing Mom she was, encouraging and guiding us always.
Marvelou (Maas) Sailer, 88, Stanton, ND entered the Heavenly gates on May 22, 2024 at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, ND. She entered the care center on January 25, 2024 due to stroke complications. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hazen, with Pastor Bill Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.
Marvelou was born January 16, 1936 to William (Bill) and Ida (Neuberger) Maas. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church rural Hazen and attended grades 1-8 at a country school north of Hazen. We were very proud of Mom when she earned her High School GED in 1986. Marvelou married Roland Sailer of Stanton on August 17, 1952 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Hazen. Marvelou and Roland were married 55 years. To this union, four children were born: Judy, Clarissa, Gary, and Shannon.
Marvelou’s many interests included gardening, cooking, baking, canning, all kinds of needlework, farming, and especially music. Marvelou’s dedication as an organist for 63 years playing for countless weddings, and funerals. She was very involved in the WELCA Bible study group at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She earned a certificate from the Department of Parish Education, American Lutheran Church. Marvelou loved her family and friends and was very thankful for all the gifts God blessed her and her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Marvelou is survived by three children: Judy (Daryl) Sickler, Dakota Dunes, SD; Clarissa (Tom) Wald, Bismarck, ND; Shannon (Korrine) Sailer, Hazen, ND; four grandsons, Brandon (Leeann) Sailer, Hazen; Jacob (Shelby) Sailer, WY; Aaron (Rachel) Sickler, SD; and Austin (Ashley) Sickler, CA.; seven great-grandchildren, Grace Brannich, Elizabeth, Jaydon, Emmalynn, and Braydon Sailer, Jacob and Lucas Sickler; one sister, Sherrie Westphal, West Fargo, ND; and several nephews and nieces.
Marvelou was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Sailer; son, Gary Sailer; daughter-in-law, Sue Sailer; parents, William and Ida Maas, and one brother, Ray Maas.
The family thanks Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen, and Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, for the wonderful care given to our Mother, Marvelou.
