Matthew R Mittelsteadt

MATTHEW RAY MITTELSTEADT, 41 formerly of Hazen, ND, died in October of 2023.  A celebration of life will be held Friday, May 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM CDT, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen.

Matthew was born on November 17, 1982 at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen, ND to David and Sara (Oster) Mittelsteadt.  He grew up on the family farm helping with milking cows and was active showing calves in 4-H.  He enjoyed playing video games and hanging out with his friends.  Matt started working at the Knife River Care Center in Beulah as a CNA while still in high school in 2000.  Matt moved to Bismarck and continued working as a CNA.  He married Sarah Atkinson in 2003 and they had two sons, Ehren and Skyler.

Matt is survived by his parents, David and Sara; his sons, Ehren and Skyler of Powell River, BC, Canada; his brother, Adrian (Shawna) of Hazen; and sister, Vanessa (Rex Batie) of Sisseton, SD; nieces, Ashlyn and Taylor Batie and Romany, Otillia and Gertrude Mittelsteadt; and many good friends.

Matt was a big guy with a big heart! He and his hugs will be missed. It takes a special person to work in a nursing home like Matt did and he thoroughly enjoyed his time there.
