McKenna Duppong Obituary

McKenna Ray Duppong, 33, of Sturgis, SD, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathleen Dettmann officiating. Burial will follow at the Beulah City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 21 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

McKenna blessed her parents, and the world, on May 17, 1988 when she was born in Bismarck, ND.  She was baptized into Christ at Zion Lutheran Church and graduated from Beulah High School in 2006.  McKenna’s life was forever changed when her daughter, Ava (8) was born and, then again, when she welcomed her second daughter, Nova (6).  Her girls were everything to her and she didn’t want to miss a moment in their lives.  They spent countless hours hiking and finding new places in “The Hills” that were off the beaten path.  McKenna’s talent for photography was breathtaking, she never wanted to miss a “photo” minute or finding beauty somewhere that was hidden to most!  Her humor and laughter lit up a room like no one has ever done and she never met a “stranger”.   Her love of music ‘fed her soul’ and it didn’t matter the genre, you could always find her lost in the lyrics!

She is survived by her daughters; her parents, Joe (Paula) Duppong, Beulah, and Hope Ochsner, Hazen; one sister Charnelle “Deb” Duppong, Baker MT; two stepbrothers, Traves Guthmiller, St. Joseph, MO and Logan (Torie Walery) Guthmiller, Bismarck, ND; four nephews, Blake, Taylor, Ryeker, and Wylder; and four nieces, Macy and Harper and Madison (Lucas) Anderson, Gladstone, MO and Kaylee Guthmiller, St. Joseph, MO.  She is also survived by her grandmother, Karen (Sackman) Mohl; her step-grandfather, Larry Taylor; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is reunited, in her passing, with her grandparents, Joseph Duppong, Dorothy Winterroth, and Dwight Mohl; and her step-grandmother, Janice Taylor.  Also, great-grandparents that were blessed to have known her, Ruben and Eunice Sackman and Ervin and Ida Mohl.

She will be missed by so many and our lives will never be the same without her….and her words “When you think of me, look at the moon, I will always be there…”

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
