Melita C. (Kovarik) Scherer

Melita Caroline Scherer, 97, of Beulah ND, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Monday October 28, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Beulah, ND.

Melita was born on April 15, 1927 to Vintzel and Lydia (Fischer) Kovarik in Hebron ND. She went to school in Hebron, ND before moving with her family to a farm south of Hazen ND. She worked as a dry cleaner and in the shipyards of Oregon during WWII. Later, Melita taught at a one room schoolhouse south of Hazen before meeting her husband.

In October of 1948, Melita married Leonard Scherer. Leonard and Melita went on to have one Daughter, La-Rita.

Her husband, Leonard, passed away in April of 1970. She worked at Gambles hardware store and then at Coast to Coast both in Beulah, ND until her 70's. She loved bingo, embroidery, and her family.

Melita is preceded in death by her mother, Lydia (Fischer) Kovarik, father, Vintzel Kovarik, and husband, Leonard Scherer. She is survived by two sisters, Loretta Kovarik and Elenore Adair; one daughter, La-Rita Baier (Scherer), one grandson. Joel Baier, and one granddaughter, Rachel Baier.
