Mildred (Rowe) Hanks

Mildred (Rowe) Hanks, 90, of Beulah, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023, surrounded by family at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen, ND.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Beulah, ND.  Burial will follow at the Werner Cemetery, Werner, ND.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT, Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Mildred was born November 1, 1932, at Dunn Center, ND to Vernon and Elsie (Tyler) Rowe.  She attended school in Werner, ND until she moved to Madison, WI.  She married the love of her life, Harry Hanks, on November 9, 1947, in Dubuque, IA.  They returned to Werner in 1948.

Mildred and Harry moved to Beulah, ND in 1964 where she worked at various places and babysat for several years, which was her most cherished time.  By far, her most treasured time was spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Mildred helped raise three generations to be kind, caring and loving.  She enjoyed square dancing with Harry and playing cards with friends.  Some of her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening.  She also loved having coffee with her neighbors.

Mildred is survived by her five children, Linda (Gordon) Hilz and Connie (Jacob) Mindt both of Beulah, Barbara (Sidney) Sailer of La Feria, TX, Debora (Lester) Heringer of Beulah and Darrel (Patrice) Hanks of Rochester, MN; nine grandchildren,  Paul (DeAnn) Hilz of Bismarck, Janae (Ken) Neuberger of Beulah, Tiffany (Jamie) Wood of Keller, TX, Joshua (Christy) Mindt of Beulah, Natalie (Hito) Zapata of Buena Park, CA, Jennifer Sailer of Goddard, KS, Heather (Scott) Funk of Hebron, Daniel Hanks of Minneapolis, MN, Virginia (Samuel) Wasmund of Maple Grove, MN; 17 great grandchildren, Heidi and Troy Hilz, Logan and Landon Neuberger, Jacob, Lucas and Audrey Wood, Eli and Colton Mindt, Bon, Emily and Megan Zapata, Holden and Cole Sailer, Peyton and Taylor Funk, Viviana Wasmund; her sister, Bonnie (Don) Goetz; and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her parents; son-in-law, David Creel; grandson, Nathan Sailer; mother and father-in-law, Howard and Vivian Hanks; brother-in-law, Peter Reichardt; brother-in-law, Bruce (Lydia) Hanks; sister-in-law, Corinne (Keith) Christensen; aunts, uncles, niece and nephew.

The family prefers memorials be sent to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Beulah, ND, in lieu of flowers.
