Nathaniel “Danny” David Sailer, 80, of Pick City, ND passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pick City with Pastor Nathan Schieber officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitaiton will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Danny was born on March 18, 1941 at the Beulah Hospital to Theodore and Johanna (Spier) Sailer. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on May 18, 1941 and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. Danny was raised on the family farm south of Pick City and lived there until the time of his death.
On September 2, 1961, Danny married his loving wife of 60 years, Luella Harsch, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Together they farmed and ranched on the family homestead. They became proud parents to one son, Ricky Sailer, on September 30, 1963.
Danny worked construction and was partnered in Central Concrete Construction with his brother-in-law, Eugene Boeshans. In 1976, he started working for the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department until 2003 when he retired after 25 years of service. Danny’s favorite past times were driving his “Jimmy” (GMC truck) around the family farm, and hunting with his son, grandson, and nephew.
Danny is survived by his wife, Luella of Pick City; his son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Sandra Sailer of Pick City; one grandson, Brandon and his wife, Marisa and her son, Weston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond (Pauline) Sailer; his sister, Henrietta (Herman) Oestreich; his father- and mother-in-law; two brothers-in-law, Elmer Harsch and Eugene Boeshans; and one sister-in-law, Louise Harsch.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
