Nestor Kilber, 82, passed away Dec. 12, 2019, at the Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer, ND. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST, Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Stanton, ND, with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM CST, Tuesday, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, ND.
Nestor, the youngest of 10 children was born March 29, 1937, at Hazen, ND, to Leonard and Karolina (Baszler) Kilber. He was raised and educated in Stanton, ND and entered the Marine Corp after graduation. Nestor was Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corp April of 1959. On July 17, 1959 he was united in marriage to Jeanette Lang in Hazen, ND, and together had two children.
Nestor worked at various jobs before joining Basin Electric in 1965 at the Leland Olds Station in Stanton, ND, then transferring to Basin Electric Antelope Valley Station in Beulah, ND ending his 30-year career as Operations Superintendent. Nestor was active in community efforts as City Council Member and Mayor of the City of Stanton, treasure of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and served as assistant minister, member of the Stanton Jaycees and instructed North Dakota Hunter Safety.
Nestor was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting, camping and fishing with his family and friends. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking, taking vacations and time with his grandchildren Kelsey and Lexie.
Nester is survived by his wife, Jeanette, daughter, Connie Albrecht, son, Steve (Cori), grandchildren Kelsey and Lexie and sister In-Law Darlene Kilber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers; Edwin (Frances), Ruben (Olga), Eldor (Ruth), Bernard, Wally and Calvin. Three sisters; Freida (Henry) Miller, Esther (Gust Younker, Roy) Reinschmidt and Leona (Othmer) Isaak.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Our Savior Church, Stanton, ND or an organization of your choice.
