Pamela "Pam" R. (Anderson) Guenthner

Pam Guenthner, 69, Hazen, ND passed away Monday, July 13, 2026, at Sanford Medical Bismarck, surrounded by her family.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CT, Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with Pastor Walt Wolff officiating.  Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hazen.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

 Pamela Rae Guenthner (Anderson) was born July 11, 1957, in Crookston, MN to Lionel Anderson and Patricia (Benoit) Anderson. Her middle name was indeed fitting because she was a “ray” of sunshine to those that knew and loved her. Her smile lit up every room she entered. Her heart was much younger than her years, and many never really realized her real age and doubted when told. She often got teased that she must have started at work when she was 16 or something.

Pam attended Fisher Public School in Fisher, MN and graduated in 1975. She attended Northwest Technical College trade school in Bemidji, MN and received an associate’s degree in accounting. Pam started her career at Leland Olds Station in September 1978, before too long she was asked if she would do some extra training, excelling as an “Engineering Aide”. She became a resource for everyone, be it locating PIDs or drawings. In fact, she was often the only one that could locate them, and was tenacious in her pursuit. The fact she was a farm girl certainly came through, there was nothing she’d say no to, crawling through many a boiler, cyclone, or burner. doing inspections. She learned to balance fans (you would have had to work in a power plant to get it), she was so talented at balancing fans Curt, her immediate boss and life-long friend, called her “One shot Pammy”. She had the touch, just like she touched so many lives.

Work life aside what Pam excelled most at was being a mother to Holly and Colter. There wasn’t a soul who met her that did not know of her great love for her children. Her gentleness, understanding, and patience were as limitless as her devotion and dedication to them. Not only in their growing up years, but throughout their lives she was there for them in every way possible.

Pam married Steve in the fall of 2011.  Little did they know when they were first hired at LOS 33 years earlier, they would become life partners. A couple years later they purchased some land from her father-in-law with sights set on retirement years. A road was put in, trees were planted and cropland was returned to grass. It was then that Pam learned a new skill in life, “picking rock”! In 2018 they built their home and spent the last years together back in the countryside as when they grew up.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Lionel and Patricia Anderson; her brother-in-law, John Hemphill; sister-in-law, Phyllis Bohrer and father-in-law, Alvin Guenthner.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Guenthner, Hazen; her daughter and son, Holly Victor, Hazen and Colter Langord, Hazen; her siblings, Susan Hemphill, Sun City, AZ, David and Kathy Anderson, Sun City, AZ, Keith and Lori Anderson East Grand Forks, MN; step-daughters, Petra and Todd Johnson, River Falls, WI, Tasie and Daniel Guenthner, Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Chase Langord, Mattaya Victor, Tucker Victor, Aberdeen Johnson, Astrid Johnson and Solomon Johnson; many nieces and nephews, co-workers, friends and acquaintances; and others she touched in her quiet, timid way and beautiful smile.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to go to Hazen Ambulance, Riverdale Ambulance, or Sakakawea Hospice in Hazen, ND.
