Pearl was born on July 27, 1928 to Alfred and Gena (Anderson) Benjamin on a farm near Center, ND. She and her family moved to homestead a farm in Oliver County where she lived the rest of her childhood years. She was the youngest of five children. She received her education in local country schools graduating from eighth grade. She had many friends in the neighborhood and loved going to Center on Saturday nights to spend time with friends and dancing. One of those friends had a handsome older brother, Darhl Cahoon. He lived two miles cross country from her home. He began visiting her, giving her rides home from the dances,, and even rode his horse to her house to visit her after a snowstorm.
Pearl married Darhl on June 7, 1944. They bought a small farm just out of Center, ND. There, they welcomed the birth of their first child, Lavonne. They then rented and moved to a farm closer to their families in Oliver County until they were able to rent and eventually buy the farm Darhl always dreamed of owning just a half mile from where he was born and raised. There they welcomed the birth of Wayne, Delree, and Debbie. They milked cows, raised cattle and farmed. Pearl loved caring for her family and the country life. She could never see any reason to move away from the farm.
Darhl passed away December 18, 1988. Pearl continued to live on the farm with family close by. She enjoyed casino trips, going out to eat, spending time with family and friends, and caring for her precious cats. She remained on the farm until health issues required her to move to assisted living in June 2022. She continued to enjoy trips to the farm to be welcomed by her three special kitties, Teddy, Dora, and Bailey.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Wayne (Peggy) Cahoon, Delree Kilber, Debbie (Don) Carr; son-in-law, Al Schwab; sister-in-law, Loretta Beckman; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Darhl; her parents, Alfred and Gena; daughter, Lavonne Schwab; her siblings, Jesse Benjamin, Cliff Benjamin , Art Benjamin, and Alice Vavra; son-in-law, Bob Kilber; and grandson, Darnel Davis
