It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ralph John Duttenhefner, who left us on June 9, 2025, at the age of 77. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CT on Monday, June 16, 2025 at St. Martin Catholic Church, Hazen with Deacon Dan Wallach officiating. Burial will follow at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery, Hazen.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ralph was born on July 16, 1947, in Richardton, North Dakota, to Eva (Streifel) and Jacob Duttenhefner, he was the youngest son of 6 children. He then grew up in Dodge, North Dakota and later enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 where he received multiple awards. He then returned home and he met his love and best friend, Rosemary Holler. They got married on August 25, 1969 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church. The couple then moved to Fargo, North Dakota and welcomed their first daughter, Bobbie (Burchinal), into the world. They later moved to Minot, North Dakota and had their second daughter, Sheila (Faut), before making their way back to Dodge, North Dakota in 1974 and opened Ralph’s Exxon. In 1985, the family made their final move to Hazen, where they put down their roots. Ralph began his career at Dakota Gasification, where he worked until retirement in 2008.
Ralph was a man of great character and integrity. He was a very proud Veteran and had a passion for tinkering, camping with his grandchildren, and traveling. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, his generosity and dedication touched countless lives. Above all, Ralph cherished his family, and his love for them was unwavering.
He is survived by his daughters, Bobbie (Uriah) Burchinal of Bismarck, and Sheila (Tim) Faut of Hazen; Seven grandchildren, Katelynn (Klint), Christopher, Alyson, Taylor, Miranda (Hunter), Mason (Maddy), and Nicole (Connor); Four great-grandchildren and one on the way; Two brothers, Tony (Marilyn), Winifred (Karen); one sister Janice; and his special friend Charlotte. He is preceded in death by his wife Rosemary, his parents Jacob and Eva, his brothers Mike and Steve, and his grandson Andrew.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
