Raymond Hipfner, 88, of Beulah, passed away Friday, February 03, 2023, at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST, Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beulah, with Fr. Tom Grafsgaard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CST, Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Raymond was born on April 12, 1934 on the family farm nine miles north of Beulah to Joe and Agnes (Eid) Hipfner. He attended rural school and graduated from Beulah High School in 1953. He entered the Army in October of 1953 and after basic training, he was sent to Korea. After the military service, Ray worked at Boeing in Seattle, WA and later Corwin Churchhill Motors in Bismarck. In 1957, he went back to the farm. He married Shirley Gleich on May 6, 1959, on a Wednesday. Together they had two children, Clarice born in 1960 and Blaine born in 1965. Ray farmed before, during and after his long career of being a truck driver at Knife River Coal Company where he worked from 1963 to 1996. He entered the Knife River Care Center in March of 2021 where he has since lived.
Raymond is survived by his wife Shirley of Beulah; one daughter, Clarice (Glenn) Zander and one son, Blaine (Donna) Hipfner, both of Bismarck; one brother, Sharold Hipfner of Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerome Hipfner.
