Raymond Ruben Grosz died Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the age of 80 in Dickinson, ND at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Monday, March 28, 2022 at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Hazen City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Raymond was born to Samuel and Elsie (Wolf) Grosz in Hazen, ND on September 3, 1941. When Ray was three months old, his family moved to the Grosz homestead, which was homesteaded by Ray’s grandfather, Gotthilf Grosz. He lived on the family farm until 2005 when he moved to Hazen. Ray attended rural school, north of Hazen and high school in Hazen. He married the love of his life, Jean Oster, on June 28, 1963 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Hazen. After marrying Jean, Ray began farming, dairy, small grains and lastly ranching. In the mid-1980s, he started driving school bus for Hazen Public Schools and drove for 29 years.
Ray enjoyed vacationing in the fall and had the privilege of enjoying a vacation to Germany. He also loved coffee time with his buddies and spending time with his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; his children, Ruby (Kelly) Hintz and Delton (Michelle) Grosz; four grandchildren, Alicia Aune (fiance', Casey Zingg), Tyler Aune, Nichole (Dustin) Grant, Chris Barnick (friend, Michelle Pierce); four great-grandchildren, Marshall and Lane Grant and Trevor and Anastasia Zingg; and one sister, Doris Kuch.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Elmer, Calvin, Harold and Allen; and one sister, Delma Strobel.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
