Robert Ellwein

Robert J. Ellwein, 82, of Pick City, ND passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Riverdale, ND with Pastor VanVechten Crane officiating. Burial will follow at Luther Gemeinde Cemetery, Pick City, ND.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CST on Monday, December 4 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Robert was born on February 12, 1941 in Hazen, ND to Leo and Irma (Grosz) Ellwein. He attended country school until the eighth grade and went on to attend Mandan High School, graduating in 1959. After graduation, Robert worked construction until 1965. On July 4, 1965, he married Linda Simenson at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Zap, ND. The couple made their home on Robert’s family’s homestead and farmed for all of their married life until Robert retired in 2006. Robert and Linda were blessed with two children, Bob and Theresa.

Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also like playing pinochle with family and friends. Robert was active in his church and served on the church council for many years. He and Linda like to travel and made many, wonderful memories over the years.

Robert is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda of Pick City; his children, Bob Ellwein of Beulah and Theresa (Ron) Brorby of Grand Forks; his grandson, Tom Miller of Colorado; one brother, Donald (Joyce) Ellwein of Washburn; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Simenson of Zap; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents; one brother, Nester (LaVain) Ellwein; and one nephew, Terry Ellwein.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
