Ron was born on May 3, 1939 to Otto and Frieda (Mohl) Huber. He graduated from Hazen High School in 1957 and from the University of North Dakota in 1961 with his teaching degree. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964. After Ron’s time in the service, he taught history at New Leipzig before moving to Minot where he taught junior high history at the Minot Air Force Base for 20 years.
After Ron retired from teaching, he returned home to Hazen where he worked part time at Hazen Motors and was a caretaker for both of his parents and later, his brother, Howard.
Ron was an avid book reader. His cousin, Maxine, said that he was the most well-read person she knew. His book collection of over 1,000 books has gone to the local library as well as other charities.
Ron is survived by his sister, Betty Swanson of White Bear Lake, MN; his brothers, Dennis (Jan) Huber of Pomona, CA; Robert (Leticia) Huber of Port Townsend, WA and Steve (Kari) Huber of Hazen; his brother-in-law, Dennis Gehring of White Bear Lake, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Howard and Eugene (Darlene); his sister, Eunice Gehring; and his brother-in-law, Al Swanson.
Ron was a generous, charitable giver. He felt strongly about helping many causes and did so for years. Memorials may be given to St. Matthew LCMS general fund, The Hazen Library, Hazen Dollars for Scholars or a charity of the giver’s choosing.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
