Russell Harry England, 81, of Beulah, ND died peacefully at home on Friday, August 18, 2023. There will be a visitation only from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Barbot Funeral Home.
Russell was born on July 21, 1942 in Gordon, Nebraska. He had three brothers and three sisters. Russell married a sweet Wyoming girl, Barbara Hood, on April 17, 1966. They had three beautiful daughters.
Russell worked for Great Western Sugar in Scottsbluff, NE until he transferred to American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1977. In 1983, he started work at DGC in Beulah until retirement in 2005.
He loved his daughters and their families very much and traveled to see them as often as he could wherever they lived.
Russell liked to golf and played a lot at Bully Pulpit Golf Course in Medora, ND, where he and Barb volunteered for 18 years. He also enjoyed wood working and built many projects. He liked planting a garden, which seemed to get bigger each year.
Russell loved to fish and took many trips to Canada with some great fishing buddies. He did a lot of fishing in Lake Sakakawea with friends and loved to take his grandkids fishing to catch a “big one”. The last couple of years, he fished a lot with Barbara, special brother-in-law, Mike Hood and Mike’s sweet wife, Marilyn. There was also many card games played with them, with a lot of laughter and maybe some name calling!
Russell is survived by his wife of 57 wonderful years, Barbara; his daughters, Melanie (Rich) Weichel of Stuttgart, Germany, Monica (life partner, John) Kochel of Cape Coral, FL and Michelle (Chris) Renner of Beulah, ND; his grandchildren, Brandon (Hayley) Aanderud, Michael (fiancée, Stacey) Mamer, Mandie Meier, Chelsea Weichel, Matthew Weichel, and Haden Renner; three great-grandchildren, Elyse Aanderud, Emilia Aanderud and Xander Story; two sisters and one brother; and lots of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Sakakawea Hospice or The Medora Foundation in Russell’s name would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
