Ryan J. Tunge

Ryan J. Tunge, 44 of Hazen, ND died peacefully on January 29, 2025 at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST, Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at English Lutheran Church, Hazen with Randy Emgarten officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Ryan was born in Bismarck, on April 18, 1980, he was the younger of two children of John and Patrice Tunge. After graduation from the University of North Dakota, he was employed at the ND Game and Fish as a District Game Warden. After his career with ND Game and Fish, he pursued his career with Southwest Water out of the Hazen office and was currently employed with them.

On May 16, 2015 he married the love of his life, Erica (Borlaug) Tunge, at English Lutheran Church, Hazen. Ryan was an avid outdoors man.  You could always find him out in the country living life to the fullest; as he was either hunting or just enjoying nature with his two blondes, Erica and Hank. He cherished ever moment with Erica and Hank and together they completed each other and shared countless adventures hunting, fishing, shooting guns, and driving back country roads. Whether you had time or not, Ryan would tell you a great story.  Ryan could walk into a room full of strangers, strike up a conversation and instantly make a new friend.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Erica, Hank, mother Patrice, sister, Sarah (Shawn) Yeager, mother and father-in-law Byron & Pam Borlaug, sisters-in-law Jessica (Brandon Doll) Borlaug, Monica (Garrett) Grossman and nephews Jack and Benson Grossman.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Tunge. The family requests memorials go to the Mercer County Peace Officers Association for the Cops & Kids Fishing Day.
