Shad Jeremy Kusler, of Mandan, ND, was born January 5, 1974, to Gerald and Loretta (Riegel) Kusler in Rapid City, SD.
The youngest of three siblings, he grew up in Bismarck, ND. He attended Bismarck High School where he gained his love of basketball. Shad made many lifelong friends playing high school basketball. After high school, Shad attended Jamestown College, later transferring to University of Mary where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Accounting. He then completed a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of North Dakota.
Shad was a successful, passionate Sales/Business Manager for various companies & received multiple awards throughout his career. He had excellent leadership skills and was a true mentor to many over the years.
Shad was currently employed as a Territory Manager for Advanced Business Methods (ABM) in Bismarck, ND. He truly enjoyed this position and spoke fondly of his co-workers.
Shad was united in marriage to Faye Nannenga on August 8, 2012 at Brush Creek, Beulah, ND. They shared a love of animals, music, and the outdoors. He had two children from a previous marriage, his son John and daughter Katie.
Shad was a very proud father, he was so proud of John & Katie as individuals and of all their accomplishments. He enjoyed every single loving, adventurous, funny moment spent together. He loved them more than they could ever know.
Shad spent much of his free time at the Kusler family farm “Brush Creek,” Beulah, ND, where his late uncle Jim had been residing for many years. Jim was not only Shad’s uncle but also his dearest best friend & confidant. Shad admired his uncle like no other.
Shad wholeheartedly LOVED time spent at the farm and generously shared the magic of “Brush Creek” with countless friends and loved ones. He had a passion for his horses and shared that with anyone & everyone who came to Brush Creek. He enjoyed horseback riding, cooking for friends & family, watching sports, especially basketball, listening to music, reading, and simply spending time with loved ones sharing stories. Shad loved telling stories, and will be remembered as much for his wit and humor as for the good stories themselves.
Shad passed away unexpectedly Tuesday February 21, 2023 at the age of forty-nine.
Shad is survived by his wife Faye, son John, daughter Katie. His brother David (Sheila) Kusler, and their children, Wade, Brett and Jace, his sister Becky (Randy) George, and their children Sean and Kalyn. His aunts Johnell Kusler, and Milda Kusler Hedblom.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents on both sides, his mother & father and his uncle Jim Kusler.
Private Family Services will be held, with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
