Sidney D Johnson

Sidney Duane Johnson, 68, of Hazen, ND, went home to meet Jesus on August 25, 2023, while in Sakakawea Medical Center.  The family will hold a private memorial service.

Sid was born on September 20, 1954 to Donald and Beatrice (Buth) at Hazen Memorial Hospital.

They lived in Hazen while Don worked building the Garrison Dam. They later moved to Los Angeles where Sid attended school, eventually graduating from Venice High School. During Sid’s first year of college in Oregon, his father Don was killed in a car accident. Sid and Bea moved back to North Dakota, where he started school in Wahpeton studying diesel mechanics. There he met the love of his life, Roslyn Dobitz. They were married in 1975, and soon found themselves back in Hazen. They had two children: Meghann (Kris) Hanson and Alex (Alicia) Johnson.  Now there are six grandkids: Lilly, Daylee, Bishop, Avery, Asher, and Axel. Sid worked at Dakota Gasification Company for 27 years, retiring in 2013.

Sid was intensely passionate about his hobbies and interests. He loved hunting, fishing, archery, and guitar. His most treasured moments were when he was teaching his children and grandchildren about the great outdoors.
