Viola (Hausauer) Martin

Viola Martin, 91, of Beulah, North Dakota passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Services will held at 10:00 AM CDT on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah with Pastor John Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, south of Beulah.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT on Thursday, November 3 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Viola Hausauer was born on April 11, 1931, the eighth child born to Phillip and Christina (Flemmer) Hausauer. She was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church south of Beulah. On June 24, 1951, Viola married Otto Martin, also at Peace Lutheran. The couple had one daughter, Arlis Christina.

Viola spend much of her young life caring for her younger siblings and nieces. After marrying Otto, she became a farm wife, working with Otto until 1968. In later years, the couple moved to town and Viola began selling Avon in Zap and worked at Galloway’s Super Valu in Beulah for seven years. Viola became a resident of Knife River Care Center in 2015.

Viola enjoyed baking and cooking for her siblings and friends. She also liked bowling, pinochle and puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Arlis and Randy Voegele; one grandson, Chad Voegele; her brother, David Hausauer; four sisters, Pauline Frank, Elsie (Wilbert) Opp, Ella Fandrich and Linda (Tom) Dallman; one brother-in-law, Herb Martin; and six sisters-in-law, Irene Hausauer, Wilma Hausauer, Anne Hausauer, Betty Hausauer, Cindy Martin and Delores Mohl.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, who passed in 2006; her parents; Otto’s parents, Reinhold and Louise (Mutzenberger) Martin and Ann Mohl Martin; two sisters, Ida (Alex) Voegele and Martha (Dan) Huber; seven brothers, Carl (Ruth), Alex, Reinhold, Herb, Fred, Gary (Betty) and Dale; five brothers-in-law, Edwin Frank, Clemence Flemmer, Wildet Fandrich, Edwin Martin and Edwin Mohl; three sisters-in-law, Ann Hausauer, Hertha (Ervin) Borth and Charlotte Martin.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
