Will Lloyd Obituary

Will Lloyd (aka Runt), 68, died on September 23, 2025 at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. A memorial will be held at a later date.

Runt was born on May 24, 1957 in Oakland, Maryland to Willard and Patsy Lloyd. He made his way to North Dakota in 1980 where he met the love of his life, Carla Winkler. On April 24, 1982 they were married. Throughout his career he worked in the equipment and coal mining industries.  Together they shared 43 years of marriage filled with classic car shows and countless vacations across the United States. Runt’s favorite vacation spot was Monument Valley in Arizona.

Runt enjoyed all things related to classic vehicles, as long as it was a Ford. He was a member of the Early Iron Rodders club, North Dakota Street Rod Association and National Street Rod Association. He spent hours tinkering in his shop and always had a project car to work on. Lynyrd Skynyrd was his go-to music. When Runt wasn’t at his shop, he could be found relaxing and enjoying the outdoors with his favorite spot being the gazebo which he built. In May of 2024, he was diagnosed with ALS. He spent his remaining time on this earth with quiet strength, accepting each day without a complaint.

Runt is survived by his wife, Carla; brother Bobby (Tara) Lloyd of McHenry, MD; mother Patsy Lloyd of McHenry MD, mother-in-law Florence Winkler, special cousin Roy and many brothers and sisters in law, nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, cousins and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Willard Lloyd, father-in-law Albert Winkler JR, special cousin Debbie and his grandparents.

A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Sakakawea Medical Center for their care in his final days. The family requests that memorials be made to Sakakawea Medical Center or Beulah Congregational Church.
