Gerald “Jerry” Heihn, 78, of Beulah, ND died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Sakakawea Medical Center, Hazen. Services will be held at 2:00 PM CDT on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah with Pastor Mary Lou Aune officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Gerald was born on the family farm north of Beulah on June 5, 1938 to Harold and Ella (Oster) Heihn. He began farming after his father died in 1958. On December 28, 1958, he married Selma Weigum in Zap, ND. Together they lived on the family farm where they raised two daughters. Jerry worked at Knife River Coal for 29 years and 8 years at Coteau. Throughout their years together, Jerry and Selma traveled to many places of which Africa was his favorite destination. They also spent 12 winters in Arizona.

Jerry enjoyed camping, traveling, tinkering and welding.  His grandchildren and great grandson were his life's greatest joy.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Selma of Beulah; two daughters, Joyce (Kevin) Renner of Beulah and Lori (Tim) Siira of Killdeer, ND; two grandchildren, Randi (Matthew) Voegele of Corona, CA and Casey (Renee) Renner of Beulah; one great-grandchild, Mason Voegele; one expected great-granddaughter; one sister, LouElla (Ron) Fix of Hazen; one step-brother, Clyde (Judy) Brenner of Exeter, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and one infant son.
