Marvin Schnaidt

September 30, 1930 ~ July 21, 2016 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Marvin Schnaidt, 85, of Beulah, ND passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 surrounded by his family. A celebration of Marvin's life will be held Wednesday, July 27th at 10:00 AM CDT at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Beulah, with Pastor Jordan Langness officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah City Cemetery, Beulah.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 26 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Marvin was born on Sept. 14, 1930 to Rudolph and Anna (Heth) Schnaidt. On August 27, 1954 he married Violet Keller and enjoyed almost 62 happy years together.

Marvin served his country as a medic in the Army from 1951 to 1953. After serving in the Army, he worked at Occident Elevator and Mohl Drilling. On May 1, 1958 he started working for Montana Dakota Utilities. He retired from MDU after 35 years of loyal service.

Throughout his life, Marvin enjoyed many hobbies: rock hunting adventures with his family, lapidary work, playing cribbage with his grandchildren, and working in his garage. Marvin loved to travel with his wife and daughter and later joined by his son-in-law and grandchildren. Marvin and Vi also enjoyed many friends and adventures with the Southwest Trail Blazers Camping group.

Marvin and Violet lived in Beulah for most of their lives. They were active at Prince of Peace Lutheran church in Beulah for the last 13 years. Last fall, due to failing health, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. He enjoyed living near his grandchildren and the Utah family that they have known and loved for almost 30 years.

Marvin is survived by his wife Vi; daughter Susan (Greg) Hoepfner, Salt Lake City; grandsons, Danial (Brooke) Hoepfner, Austin, TX and Michael (Allison) Hoepfner, Salt Lake City; one granddaughter, Amanda (significant other, Sam)  Hoepfner, Salt Lake City; two brothers, Rueben (Marilyn) Schnaidt, Devils Lake, ND and Delmer (Janet) Schnaidt, Coon Rapids, MN; two sisters, Arlene Orth, Waverly, IA and Janet Richau, Bismarck, ND; and one adopted granddaughter, Sarah Scutts, Salt Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Merlin Orth.
